The School of Music in the Weitzenhoffer College of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in saxophone.
Job Description
The ideal candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate applied saxophone, hold a weekly studio class, coach chamber music, collaborate with OU School of Music faculty, engage in effective recruiting activities, maintain an international, national, and regional teaching and performing outreach schedule, and serve on various committees as assigned by the Director of the OU School of Music.
Required Qualifications
Earned D.M.A. in Saxophone Performance or an M.M. in Saxophone Performance with equivalent professional experience is required. Evidence of successful performing and collegiate teaching.
Desired Qualifications
Individuals demonstrating additional proficiencies in jazz or other genres are encouraged to apply. Evidence of successful recruiting, mentoring, and teaching at the collegiate level. Experience guiding creative activity at the graduate level. Creative/scholarly accomplishments demonstrated through national and international performances, master classes, presentations at conferences, recordings, publications, and/or professional leadership. We are especially interested in candidates who will help cultivate the uniquely collaborative atmosphere in our woodwind program and who can contribute, through their teaching, performing, and service, to the excellence of the academic community, and who will work to build relationships with other departments within the College and University.
