Job Description

Summary

Our translational cancer research group is seeking a highly skilled, driven, and organized individual with extensive research experience in cancer biology with who will serve as a postdoctoral scholar in the Surgical Translational Oncology Laboratory. Our lab studies the translational role of patient-derived xenografts for applications in human oncology therapy at the Baylor College of Medicine. Our group is also leading a clinical trial of chemo-immunotherapy for pancreatic cancer to explore optimal strategies to enhance anti-tumoral immunity. In parallel, we are exploring mechanisms of therapeutic resistance mediated by abnormal sphingolipid metabolism in GI cancer.

Job Duties

  • Designs and conducts one or multiple large scale individual research projects with input from laboratory PI. This will include developing and performing highly specialized and complex research examinations, procedures and tests, including a variety of molecular and immune assays. Flow cytometry, western blot, microscopy, ELISA, will be among the assays.
  • Performs data analysis and figure preparation with responsibilities to present data in scientific meetings.
  • Establishes new research protocols and procedures.
  • Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
  • Maintains laboratory operations.
  • Supervises research staff.
  • Contributes to grant writing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The successful applicant must be enthusiastic and willing to take on innovative experiments studying human and mouse tumor samples in relation to pro-neoplastic pathways that contribute to cancer promotion
