Job Description

Summary

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Gallo laboratory to study, plan, direct and conduct specialized and advanced bioinformatics and genomics research in neuro-oncology. This position will be responsible to conduct computational studies aimed at discovering new principles underlying brain tumor biology. The successful candidate will have opportunities to generate, analyze and mine data using a variety of approaches, including single-cell and spatial genomic assays.

Job Duties

  • Designs and performs bioinformatics studies that directly answer biological questions.
  • Generates new data using advanced genomic tools and analyze/mine other available resources.
  • Collects and analyzes data and present at local/national/international meetings.
  • Summarizes research findings, prepares manuscripts for publication and publishes results in peer-reviewed research journals.
  • Applies for external fellowships.
  • Mentors junior lab members.
  • Establishes new research protocols and techniques.
  • Maintains laboratory operations.
  • Supervises research staff.
  • Works on projects designed to better understand the biology of brain tumors.
  • Identifies new biological vulnerabilities that may be validated and targeted in relevant preclinical models.
  • Operates in a team environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MD or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Health Sciences, or a related field
  • Experience working with and adapting computational packages for analysis of genomics data (including single-cell and bulk genomic and epigenomic data) and server environments
