The transgenic mouse core facility produces genetically modified mice as a service to researchers at the City of Hope, and, as such, the desired candidates must possess a high level of dedication and professionalism. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for:

  • Handling and euthanasia of laboratory mice.
  • In vitro culture of mouse embryos; micro-manipulation and electroporation of mouse embryos; surgical and non-surgical embryo transfer in mice; in vitro culture of mouse embryonic stem cells (mESC).
  • Cryopreservation/rederivation of mouse strains; management of mouse breeding colonies.
  • The research associate will also perform molecular biology and microscopy techniques used to generate and genotype genetically modified mice.
  • The position requires availability on weekends as needed.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years related research/ laboratory experience with a Bachelor’s degree or one year related research/ laboratory experience with a Master’s degree.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $31.00 - $48.05 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
