Position Description
We are seeking a talented, highly motivated individual to join the laboratory of Professor David Sinclair in the Genetics Department at Harvard Medical School, Boston. The Sinclair lab is known for its work on genes and small molecules that delay or reverse aging. They have identified a new approach that safely reverses the age of tissues and used it to restore the vision of old mice, a recent study on Nature's Cover. The lab has a wide range of expertise and interests, including cancer, neurodegeneration, blindness, diabetes, and muscle degeneration.

The position offers an opportunity to work in a world-renowned lab that pioneered the study of aging and age reversal and to interact with an engaged group of scientists involved in cutting-edge research funded by the NIH and various private foundations. The individual in this role must be a creative, self-motivated, detail-oriented, problem-solver with exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with scientists in academia and industry, in addition to executives, and potential donors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Facilitating the smooth flow of scientific information into and out of the lab, Logistics management for lab members and PI.
  • Organize meetings with individuals from diverse professional backgrounds.
  • Assist with lab travel arrangements and accommodations.
  • Document and process receipts for expense reimbursement and tax records.
  • Stay informed about topics of interest and issues related to research projects.
  • Conduct literature and topical research pertinent to projects, and summarize results.
  • Maintain lab website including text and graphic design.
  • Manage and maintain social media presence for lab and supervisor.
  • Support Professor Sinclair in his fundraising efforts.
  • Build and maintain key external relationships.
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports for donors, and presentations and posters for meetings.
  • Compose replies to electronic and other correspondence.
  • Proofread, fact-check, and edit written materials for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
  • Routinely update Investigators’ CV (publications, lectures, awards).
  • Ensure and maintain the confidentiality of all appropriate communications and documentation.
  • Assist with basic laboratory functions as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • College background or equivalent experience, preferably in the field of specific research study.
  • One to two+ years of related work experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • College degree preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and analytical/critical thinking skills.
  • Outstanding personal initiative and creativity.
  • Ability to learn new systems independently, apply experience to develop new techniques, retain associated information, and meet deadlines.
  • Elementary knowledge of research biology is preferred.
  • Wet lab experience preferred but not required.
  • Excellent research, presentation, organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills.
  • Capacity to gather and analyze information skillfully to swiftly identify and resolve problems.
  • Capacity to communicate information effectively, adaptively, and diplomatically both verbally and in writing.
  • Meticulous writing, grammar, and spelling skills are a must.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage a variety of responsibilities simultaneously while remaining flexible to handle changing priorities.
  • Strong computer skills using standard office equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) with experience using Adobe Acrobat, Google calendars, and social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
Additional Information
This is a one-year term position from the date of hire, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.
