Job Description

We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-line faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Sport and Exercise Psychology in Ball State’s School of Kinesiology. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in sport and exercise psychology, advising graduate student thesis/research projects, supervision of student applied work, scholarly productivity, seeking extramural funding, and service. Candidates should have teaching or teaching assistant experience, a beginning scholarly record, and potential for extramural funding. In addition, we seek candidates with certification as a mental performance consultant (CMPC), or actively seeking certification to be obtained within 2 years of employment.
The teaching load is 9 semester hours or equivalent per academic semester. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in sport and exercise psychology, advising graduate student thesis/research projects, and coordinating the sport and exercise psychology minor.

The research load is 3 semester hours or equivalent per academic semester. Responsibilities include scholarly work with continual productivity in the form of refereed publications, professional presentations, and external grant proposals and funding.

Service responsibilities include actively contributing to the intellectual and professional life of the School of Kinesiology, College of Health, Ball State University, and professional associations and activities related to the teaching specialty and/or School mission.

Minimum Experience:

Earned doctorate in any of the psychological or social sciences within Kinesiology or closely related field from an accredited college or university by August 16, 2024; at least one semester of teaching experience gained concurrently or at any time: a scholarly record with publications; demonstrated potential for extramural funding; ability to advise graduate students and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sport and exercise psychology.

Preferred Experience:

Strong evidence of scholarly productivity and successful grant funding from external sources.
Active engagement in professional organizations.
