Bidder Eligibility:
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
Level promotions (Member to Senior, Member to Principal, and Senior to Principal) may be permitted, but are not guaranteed, on this requisition.
Employees must remain in their current position for one year before applying for a new position, with the exception of student interns. Application of this requirement will not supersede collective bargaining agreements. What Your Job Will Be Like:
Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated administrative professional eager to make an impact? We are seeking an administrative support assistant for a new, evolving position supporting Sandia’s Earth Science Research Foundation (RF) and FORCEE student internship program. The position is in Sandia’s Climate Change Security Center (8900), which is dedicated to “accelerating innovations to save our planet.” The Future of Research in Climate, Earth, and Energy (FORCEE) intern institute hosts about 100 students each year and provides them with the opportunity to pursue their passion for taking on challenges in decarbonization, earth sciences, climate change, and many other related topics. The Earth Science RF stewards Sandia’s earth science research capabilities by investing approximately $7 million per year in discretionary research led by Sandia staff and university collaborators. This position will provide support to each of these important programs as described below. The person selected for this position will work closely with the Earth Science RF senior manager and the FORCEE manager, and she/he will be partnered with a business professional for mentorship. The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary. Applicants on this requisition may be interviewed by multiple organizations at Sandia National Laboratories.
On any given day, you will
+ Perform administrative support tasks for FORCEE, including assisting in student hiring, onboarding, and program activity coordination (e.g., organizing tours and lectures)
+ Perform administrative support tasks for the Earth Science RF, including tracking portfolio costing, coordinating proposal and project reviews, and organizing the annual board meeting
+ Partner with other Sandia student internship program staff to identify best practices and develop and implement an annual operations plan for FORCEE
+ Assist in the production of FORCEE recruiting materials and Earth Science RF presentations
+ Provide guidance, interpretation, and administrative assistance on a wide variety of procedures
Qualifications We Require:
+ High School Diploma +3 yrs. relevant experience
+ Knowledge of and experience with general administrative services and activities
+ Experience with common Microsoft office software
+ Excellent oral and written skills, including proofreading, grammar, spelling, punctuation, accuracy, and attention to detail
+ Ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's core values
+ Demonstrated analytical skills
+ Ability to effectively work in a team environment and interact with all levels of internal and external personnel
+ Ability to obtain and maintain DOE “L” clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
+ Excellent customer service skills
+ Proficiency with Sandia financial processes and software
+ Experience with Sandia’s Laboratory Directed Research program processes
+ Prior experience organizing and hosting organizational functions (e.g., workshops, board meetings, etc.)
+ Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and competing priorities

The group has several dozen researchers and field engineers with expertise in atmospheric science, hydrology, energy-water systems analysis, climate modeling and impact analysis, and Arctic field operations.

Security Clearance:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
