Medical Technologist I (Oncology)

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Perform routine and complex medical laboratory tests, procedures and analyses.

  • Ensure that all laboratory tests are performed in accordance with established standards.

  • Maintains the use of automated and computerized instruments to include recognition of instrument malfunction and resolution with appropriate corrective actions.

  • Evaluates results of Quality Control procedures and implements corrective action when indicated.

  • Evaluates the validity of test results; understands clinical implications, notifies primary caregiver of critical test results.

  • Documents and maintains the appropriate records required by the hospital and laboratory accrediting agencies.

  • Develops and maintains current procedure and policy manuals based upon defined accrediting agency standards.

  • This position is Monday - Thursday 1:00pm to 11:30pm (4 /10-hour shifts)

$3,000 Sign-on Bonus Eligible

Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Degree in Medical Technology or equivalent required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science; OR

    • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with Medical Technologist certification.

Minimum Experience

  • 2 years of hospital experience preferred

Required Certification/Licensure

  • Certification required (ASCP, AMT or AAB) or eligible to take exam

    • If eligible to take exam, Must successfully complete certification (ASCP, AMT or AAB) within 18 months of completed graduation from an accredited college or university.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $27.76 - $45.67 / hour

The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
