Bidder Eligibility:
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
Level promotions (Member to Senior, Member to Principal, and Senior to Principal) may be permitted, but are not guaranteed, on this requisition.
Employees must remain in their current position for one year before applying for a new position, with the exception of student interns. Application of this requirement will not supersede collective bargaining agreements. What Your Job Will Be Like:
We are seeking an IT Systems Administrator (Computing Infrastructure Engineer) to join our Special Operations 24/7/365 team. We are a “mission focused” organization and provide critical support to a wide variety of organizations and agencies, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies - both commercial and custom - and have direct input on the future of our strategic path.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Provide real-time support to critical activities impacting our nation
+ Maintain security compliance and overall availability to our dedicated mission operations datacenter
+ Manage and maintain an IT infrastructure consisting of web servers, data processing and specialized hardware
+ Provide input on design and deployment of new technologies and applications
+ Work in an exciting and dynamic 24/7/365 mission-first environment
+ Perform Linux and Windows installations, configurations, upgrades and security patching (bare metal hardware and virtual environments)
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Qualifications We Require:
+ Bachelor's degree in related field plus 5 or more years of experience; or equivalent combination of related education and/or experience
+ Experience building, maintaining, and administrating one or more of the following systems: RHEL 6 or 7, CentOS 6 or 7, Windows Server 2012 or 2016, and Windows 7 or 10
+ Experience with Linux operating systems, virtual environments, and/or related hardware
+ Current CompTIA Security + certification
+ Ability to obtain U.S. Department of Energy Q-level security clearance and Other Government Agency (OGA) security clearances for this position. In order to obtain these clearances, U.S. Citizenship and polygraphs are required
Qualifications We Desire:
+ Familiarity with USG security accreditation requirements, policies and processes
+ Experience with writing intermediate to advanced shell scripts
+ Experience with HP hardware, including C3000/C7000 blade chassis or HP blades
+ Experience working in a 24/7/365 operational environment
+ Active DOE Q clearance and an Active DOE SCI clearance
+ Experience configuring and managing Active Directory management and PKI authentication
+ Advanced knowledge of and experience distributing and implementing standard configurations with Ansible / Puppet
+ Familiarity with NETAPP, F5 load balancers, Cisco/Juniper networking hardware (switches, firewalls, routers)
+ Experience with VMWare administration and engineering
+ Ability to Implement, support, and maintain multi-platforms, including Splunk, Solarwinds and other performance/monitoring technologies and utilize tools to monitor and support systems
About Our Team:
The Special Programs Operations (SPO) Department is responsible for executing and coordinating a variety of classified efforts at SNL's California site. These critical efforts entail providing communications services to multiple customers. We work closely with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Department of Defense (DoD), and Intelligence Community (IC) to accomplish these efforts. The centerpiece to this effort is the manning and support of an on-site 24/7/365 Mission Support operations center. We also have charters to 1) Develop processes and procedures for the acceptance, operationalization, and accreditation of new capabilities. 2) Manage ongoing accreditation of the IT and software systems, 3) Develop of state-of-the-art IT systems to reduce the total lifecycle costs for the broad range of capabilities being executed.

Security Clearance:
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship. SCI access may also require a polygraph examination. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain these levels of access may be impacted.
Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
