Job Description

Summary

Position requires conducting responsible research work and coordinating the day-to-day activities of a research program aimed at promoting healthy cooking, parental feeding practices, and child involvement in home food preparation. Main responsibilities include participant recruitment, enrollment, and maintenance, data collection and management.

Job Duties

  • Recruits research subjects from Houston area Head Start Centers.
  • Conducts eligibility screenings of families over the phone.
  • Tracks participation status of families throughout the duration of their participation.
  • Performs research related procedures as required by the study protocol (e.g. obtains subject informed consent, prepares data collection materials, collects subject data, data entry).
  • Assists with management and entry of collected data.
  • Assist with the development of program materials, protocols, and IRB submissions/renewals.
  • Provides status updates at research team meetings.
  • Collaborates with faculty and research staff from other teams.
  • Provides general office support.
  • Ensures conduct of assigned studies is in accordance with good clinical practice, federal regulations, and institutional policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Research experience relevant to the field of psychology, nutrition, human development, education, public health. 
  • Spanish fluency and proficiency needed; native Spanish speaker preferred.
  • Proficiency using a computer.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must feel comfortable interacting with Hispanic families, and communicate effectively with work staff, parents, children, and community partners.
