Title: Behavioral Health Specialist 

Division: Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences (80001039)  

Department: Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences - Psychiatry Research (90005626) 

Location: Houston (1100) 

Salary Range: $51,256 to $70,733 

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

Employment Duration: Full-time 

FLSA Status: Exempt 

Summary

The Behavioral Health Specialist will provide assessment and therapy services to children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral concerns who attend area school districts. Care will be provided virtually while the student is either at home or in school. The Behavioral Health Specialist will provide this care within the context of the state-funded Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium and Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine program.

Job Duties

  • Provides assessment for and treatment of behavioral health problems for children and adolescents in a telehealth format. 
  • Develops treatment plans with patients and families to address mental health problems. 
  • Provides brief therapeutic interventions for mental health problems.
  • Provides case coordination and care management when indicated.
  • Consults with psychiatrists and other care team members regarding patient care responsibilities.
  • Completes required documentation and statistical reporting in a timely manner. 
  • Attends center staff meetings, program and department meetings as required.
  • Provides educational presentations to school district personnel, parents, and students. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • No experience required.
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern (LPC – I), Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A)
  • (Note: individuals with LPC, or LCSW may be considered)
