Job Description
Argonne’s Vehicle and Mobility Systems department (VMS, vms.taps.anl.gov) is seeking a post-doctoral candidate to conduct research on how to leverage connectivity and automation for increased energy-efficiency. The successful candidate will participate in the team’s research program, including:
Development of models of Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) systems, such as existing full CAVs, sensor, V2X models.
Research on control algorithms that use connectivity and automation for greater energy savings.
Implementation of controls in high-fidelity simulation tools.
Implementation of controls in experimental vehicles for dynamometer and on-road testing.
Conducting large-scale case studies related to CAVs.
Development of capabilities for simulation and hardware-in-the-loop tools used in the VMS team.
Position Requirements
PhD Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
Experience in development and experimentation of automated driving controls for cars and trucks.
Experience with embedded software, robotic systems, or ECUs, including real-time software (e.g. ROS).
Experience with automated driving simulation software (e.g. CARLA, VTD, Carmaker) and traffic simulators (VISSIM, AIMSUM, SUMO).
Experience with optimal control, model-predictive control, optimization, Kalman filter.
Experience with AI techniques such as reinforcement learning.
Programming in C/C++, Python and Matlab/Simulink.
Software life-cycle (source control, documentation, deployment).
