The successful candidate:
This position requires a pharmacist with a solid understanding of all pharmacy operations including but not limited to duties/functions of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Admixture Technicians as well as an understanding of sterile technique and medication preparation/dispensing in accordance with Federal, State, USP 797/800/795, Joint Commission and other regulatory standards. The OCC Pharmacy Supervisor will supervise day to day responsibilities and activities of the Admixture Technicians while working under the direction of the Assistant Director or Director of Pharmacy.
This position serves as an effective coach in recognizing and supporting Admixture Technicians strengths and talents. Manages performance of the Admixture Technicians through continuing education, effective delegation, ongoing performance review, along with coaching and counseling as needed.
In the absence of the Assistant Director or Director of Pharmacy, this position may oversee additional operations.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
- Direct the scheduling, training, onboarding, and functions performed by OCC pharmacy staff. Supports scheduling, training, onboarding of pharmacists, student pharmacists, technicians, and volunteers in the Pharmacy Department.
- Monitor and document pharmacy staff performances utilizing counseling and/or disciplinary measures in accordance with institution policies when necessary. Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day responsibilities of pharmacy staff. Performs the annual review of direct reports
- Mentor and lead pharmacy staff in their personal and professional development. Work with pharmacy staff in developing their personal SMART goals to help facilitate the achievement of departmental KPI’s.
- Develops, educates, assesses and documents pharmacist and technician competence in key operational service areas
- Participates in the identification, development, implementation of operational quality indicators and performance improvement activities
- Able to fill all roles of a pharmacist or technician as schedule, situation or need dictates aiding staff pharmacists or technicians when necessary. Competent in general responsibilities of pharmacy purchaser and auditing & billing coordinator. This might include varying coverage based on patient or department needs.
- Under the supervision of the Assistant Director or Director of Pharmacy, assists in the planning, supervision, coordination, and successful execution of activities related to pharmacy operations for pharmacist and technicians including supervision and oversight of medication processes.
- Member of committees that relate to pharmacy functions as requested
- Assists Assistant Director or Director of Pharmacy with Quality Improvement initiatives for the department. Assists with maintaining safety requirements and managing safety events where pharmacy operations are root cause. Including but not limited to lean daily management.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy
Licensure: Licensed pharmacist in the State of Arizona
Special Skills: Knowledge of Federal, State, Joint Commission, USP 797/795/800 and other regulatory standards

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $48.61 - $80.03 / hour
