Summary
The laboratory of Dr. Michelle Hastings is hiring a Lead Research Lab Technician to work on projects investigating RNA therapeutics for treating disease. Current projects involve mRNA and antisense oligonucleotide approaches for treating lysosomal storage disease, Usher syndrome, cystic fibrosis, as well as pediatric and age-related neurodegenerative diseases. The lab uses cell and animal models of disease to test potential RNA drugs. Collaboration with academic, private and industry partners has a prominent role in our work.

Responsibilities*
Responsible for the operation of the laboratory.
Assists higher level staff in developing, designing, and conducting research projects according to plan and protocols.
Suggests options for improving procedures and research protocols.
Trains users in equipment operation and laboratory techniques. Explains and demonstrates technology and equipment capabilities, operations limitations, and outcomes.
Assists in literature searches and in providing written input in research grant proposals and publications.
May act as a liaison with other departments, programs, or organizations for acquiring data and following up on queries from higher level staff.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor’s degree.
2-3 years of experience in molecular biology, genetics, neuroscience, cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology, biophysics, or related field.
Experience in molecular and cellular techniques.
Excellent data analysis and management skills.
Strong leadership and organization skills and ability to work in a team.
Strong oral and written scientific communication skills.
