What Your Job Will Be Like: The Physical Security Department at Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Safeguards & Security Planning and Operations Specialist (Limited Term Employee) to join our team! On any given day, you may be called on to: + Assist 9230 management team in implementing, ensuring performance and compliance in operations to include program management, risk management, requirements management, performance monitoring metrics, self-assessments, and corrective actions to ensure effective and efficient processes and policies are effectively managed and implemented. + Project Management and business attributes to include a financial understanding in running program and projects. + Use systems and process methodologies to provide input for optimizing programs, policy, and functions. + Integrate and work closely with other colleagues to establish an understanding of the different work processes across the department. + Gain knowledge and experience across a very broad range of security fields. + Develop, maintain, and continuously improve programs, methods, and tools for collecting operations-related data, data analysis, trending, program management and performing data analyzes for recommendations to management. + Familiar with Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration, and other Federal Requirements and Policies. + Knowledgeable with DOE security requirements and policies and how they are applied at SNL NM and remote sites to ensure SNL is in compliance. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Qualifications We Require: + Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as Criminology, Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Intelligence, or Business plus five (5) years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of relevant education and relevant experience. + 3 years or more experience in project management. + Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance. Qualifications We Desire: + Current PMP certification or equivalent certification, or the ability to obtain within 12 months is preferred. + Demonstrated experience in management of technical projects. + Knowledge of and experience with standard project management practices including: scope management, project scheduling, cost estimation and management, quality assurance, communications planning and management, risk and opportunity management, and procurement management. + Experience working independendantly and leading large projects, including coordination, project updates, presentations, budget projections, deliverables. + Demonstrated teaming skills, including the ability to work effectively with other organizations, project sponsors and customers, and suppliers. + Demonstrated organizational skills. + Familiarity with Sandia project management best practices, procurement systems, financial reporting tools, and corporate tools/processes. + Familiarity and direct execution of projects/tasks on multidisciplinary teams subject to security requirements outlined in DOE directives. + Active DOE Q security clearances. + Experience assisting with assessing Physical Security processes and systems and conducting analysis, corrective or preventive actions, and benchmarking where needed. + Ability to work independently engaging with SMEs and Safeguards and Security (S&S) programs and efforts in order to appropriately support the interests of S&S the Physical Security Department. + Ability to identify efficiencies in work processes, procedures and make recommended improvements. + Experience with security assessments to support DOE audits and assessment of physical security systems. + Experience in Quality and Assurance methods at SNL. + Experience with developing and managing performance metrics and conducting data analysis to evaluate the success of end-to-end processes and quality improvement activities. About Our Team: The Physical Security Department provides physical security in support of SNL Mission Initiatives. There are several areas within the Physical Security Department: Protection Planning & Risk Analysis, Security Areas, Secure Storage (VTRs), Techinical Surveillance Countermeasures, Intrusion Detection Systems Performance Testing and Barriers & Delay (Lock & Keys). The Physical Security Department supports a holistic security model across the security topical areas aligned to DOE security requirements. The Physical Security department collaborates and partners with other departments within and outside the Safeguards and Security Center. The department also provides Physical Security support to Tonopah Test Range (TTR) Mission and other remote and contract sites. Position Information: This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years. Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
