The Registered Nurse - Port Room plays a crucial role in supporting the hospital's mission and vision by providing nursing, case management, and disease management services to clients and families. They work to coordinate and manage individuals' health needs across the full continuum of care. The Registered Nurse - Port Room demonstrates proficiency in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, ensuring optimal quality, clinical, and financial outcomes. This role involves assessing clinical and life issues for patients, providing professional nursing services, and supporting physicians in the direct and indirect care of patients.

The successful candidate:

  • Must be able to work FT Monday - Friday, 6:30a - 3:00p.

  • Implements care for patients receiving therapeutic phlebotomy, ensuring safe and effective procedures.

  • Collects blood specimens and blood cultures from patients, following established protocols and ensuring accuracy.

  • Provides care for patients with IV lines, central lines, and ports, including monitoring for complications and performing routine maintenance.

  • Utilizes the Electronic Health Record (EHR) appropriately, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.

  • Works collaboratively as part of the healthcare team, facilitating communication and services between physicians, patients, families, and other team members.

  • Provides patient education on phlebotomy procedures, IV therapy, and medication administration, utilizing appropriate resources and documenting education in the patient's medical record.

  • Performs tasks in accordance with facility policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and best nursing practices, including central line care, procedure assistance, and medication administration.

  • Administers medications via injection, adhering to the six rights of medication administration, using medication bar scanners as appropriate, and monitoring patients for potential side effects.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Current Georgia RN license from an accredited college

  • BSN required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and BSN completed within three years from hire date

  • BLS (Obtain AHA certification within 30 days of hire)

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $31.90 - $52.55 / hour
