Position Summary

City of Hope is seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our exceptional team in the operating room, specializing in cancer treatment. In this crucial role, you will contribute to the fight against cancer by providing outstanding surgical care to our patients. Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. This opportunity is for per diem, 12-hour shifts, and is designated for the day shift. The per diem flat rate for this position is $72.605/hr and is also eligible for a unit differential of $1.11/hr additional. There is a minimum of 1 shift per week availability required for per diem.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Assist in surgical procedures related to cancer treatment, including tumor removal, organ resection, and reconstructive surgery.
  • Ensure the operating room is prepared with the necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies for each procedure.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technicians to maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment.
  • Monitor patients during surgery, assessing vital signs and assisting with the management of complications.
  • Provide post-operative care, including wound care, pain management, and patient education.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of surgical procedures, patient conditions, and medication administration.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing is required. If ADN only, must obtain BSN within three years of hire or transfer.
  • Current California RN license
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an acute care setting and/or outpatient setting
  • Requirement of 1-year perioperative experience or a formal Perioperative nursing specialty course completed prior to application or within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
  • ACLS through American Heart Association
  • CNOR (preferred)
