As a Radiation Therapist II, you will contribute to our mission of caring for others and educating fellow caregivers. Our work culture is supportive and cooperative. Your duties will include: 

Administering radiation therapy treatments to patients of all ages.  

Serving as a technical resource for other therapists by developing processes and troubleshooting equipment problems. 

Assisting the manager with the supervision of students and Radiation Therapist I employees. 

 Assisting with performance evaluations as well as assisting with interviews, selection and onboarding of new employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs the duties of a Radiation Therapist I and administers radiation therapy treatments to patients of all ages. Serves as a technical resource for other therapists by developing processes and troubleshooting equipment problems.
  • Provides therapy aids and/or training related to equipment and/or department operations for new and existing employees as the need arises (i.e. changes in equipment, procedures, etc.).
  • Assists the manager with operations of radiation oncology department, including supervision and scheduling of employees and students.
  • Helps to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and maintains quality assurance standards for assigned work area.
  • Interviews, selects, supervises, instructs and evaluates Radiation Therapist I employees as well as students in assigned clinical area.
  • Assists manager in ensuring that Radiation Therapists are compliant with Cleveland Clinic, ODH, JCAHO, CMS, policies and procedures in assigned area.
  • Assumes timekeeping responsibilities and oversees scheduling to ensure coverage, minimize overtime and maximize productivity.

Education:                                                              

  • Graduate from a School of Radiation Therapy Technology that is approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEA) or be registry eligible.

Certifications:

  • Board certified Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT) in good standing.
  • Current state licensure in state in which employed.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association (AHA).

 

Complexity of Work:

  • Within the scope of the job, requires to communicate and relate well with patients who are under physical and emotional stress.
  • Ability to train others in the proper use of the treatment equipment.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and a strong understanding of the sciences and physics.
  • Ability to use various computer programs required in the design, interpretation, and set up of the radiation fields.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Radiation Therapist with demonstrated leadership ability and problem solving skills in Radiation Oncology and/or prior experience with training/education.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires extensive sitting and dexterity to perform work on a PC, and the ability to walk to parts of various hospital campuses to attend meetings.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision, and the ability to verbally communicate to upper level management.
  • Occasional lifting of 5 to 15 pounds.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
