Job Description

Summary

This position coordinates day to day activities of human specimen collection and distribution protocols. Many of these duties will include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Coordinates with pathology and surgical staff to collect tissue, blood and other bodily materials. Responsibilities also entail ensuring accurate data collection, documentation, organization and safety of research participants. 

Job Duties

  • Recruits and screens for research participants. 
  • Conducts participant interviews to evaluate participant eligibility in research studies. 
  • Obtains informed consent for research.
  • Coordinates with hospital staff to collect human specimen.
  • Transports biological specimens to and from laboratory. 
  • Ensures proper processing and preservation of human specimen.
  • Prepares shipments of human biological specimens.
  • Maintain research study records and results in database.
  • Assists in retrieval of complex clinical data as appropriate for various studies.
  • Maintains clean equipment and work area.
  • May correspond with patient throughout study.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  • Requires experience with computer spreadsheets and database management. 
  • Requires ability to understand and implement patient studies and protocols. 
  • Requires interpersonal skills necessary to coordinate research studies.
