Summary

The Hematology and Oncology department is in search of a Research Coordinator III to support research and academic endeavors related to clinical research protocols. The research group primarily concentrates on non-interventional observational studies aimed at examining complications associated with cancer therapies. These studies employ a diverse range of methodologies including clinical epidemiology, health services, and translational approaches.

 

This position will coordinate day-to-day activities for the Li Lab, manages research protocols which include screening, enrollment, and monitoring of research participants. Ensures accurate data collection, documentation, organization, and safety of research participants. The position requires prior research experience and able to work independently with minimal oversight, Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm.

Job Duties

  • Manage the complete life-cycle of research studies, including interviewing, screening, and recruiting patients for participation. Educate participants about study processes and procedures to ensure thorough understanding and compliance.
  • Oversee the data entry process, ensuring quality control and validation of patient information to maintain accuracy and completeness. Additionally, manage document processing and input data into a REDCap database.
  • Supervise the collection, processing, shipping, and documentation maintenance for blood and/or biological specimens, ensuring strict adherence to the procedures outlined in the study protocol.
  • Perform venipuncture (blood draws), EKGs/ECGs, and vital sign assessments on study participants as necessary.
  • Performs basic on-site sample processing with proficiency, utilizing equipment such as centrifuges, pipettes, and cryovials.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to junior clinical research coordinators and support staff.
  • Retrieve and submit test results to the appropriate party.
  • Correspond with patients throughout the study as necessary.
  • Order supplies and equipment.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline or related field. 
  • Relevant research experience (including previous non-clinical research work).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Organized, self-motivated, teamwork, works well under pressure, multitasking.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, ideally as a native speaker.
  • Technical knowledge of REDCap, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Clinical oncology research experience.
  • Prior research experience in clinical studies and demonstrate a basic understanding of cancer biology and/or bone marrow transplantation.
