Job Summary

The Clinical Oncology-Infusion Pharmacist Specialist utilizes his or her advanced knowledge in oncology to deliver personalized pharmaceutical care to patients receiving treatment in the Infusion Center. They provide education for patients starting new chemotherapy regimens and are a drug information resource for all patients, nurses and other staff. Also, the Specialist monitors patients already on treatment for opportunities to optimize management of adverse effects. Additionally, they are the point of contact/resource for the Infusion Center Advanced Practice Professionals to assist in treatment decisions related to reactions, extravasations and supportive care needs. The Specialist is also a liaison between the Infusion Center and the Clinics and Specialty Pharmacy making clinical recommendations for treatments or modification of therapy when appropriate. As well, they are responsible for ensuring safe, accurate and effective order processing, order verification and dispensing of chemotherapy and nonchemotherapy orders. The Specialist responds to Code Blue and Rapid Response events as well as drug extravasations/ infiltrations providing clinic recommendations and expedites medication delivery to the patient. They focus on quality improvement and provide input and suggestions to improve patient care. The specialist helps develop treatment order sets for hematologic/ oncologic disease states including chemotherapy regimens, adjunctive treatment and supportive care. The Clinical Oncology-Infusion Pharmacist Specialist shall additionally perform other duties as defined.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

• FL RPh License
• BCOP (Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist) through BPS - Board Certified Pharmacist
• Specialist *PGY-2 graduating residents must obtain BCOP certification within 1 year from
• date of hire (for external candidates) or 1 year from completion of residency (for current incumbents)

Minimum Experience Required

• Proficient in the drug distribution process of chemotherapy agents and non-chemotherapy agents.
• Clinical practice skills in patient assessment, pharmacology, genomics, supportive care, and personalized medicine applications. Excellent skills with communications, writing, computer applications, group dynamics and supervision.
• Professional interpersonal skills are essential.

Education

Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy Bachelors degree must be in Pharmacy if not Pharm.D. qualified.
