Job Description

Position Summary:

This position's primary focus for the NTRO Research Coordinator IV is to serve as a team lead mentoring interns and junior level research staff.

The roles will perform the following:

  • Quality assurance of the team’s projects through data reports and inclusive of workflow oversight
  • Protocol amendments and other regulatory functions
  • Study and protocol administrative functions
  • Participant recruitment

 

Depending on the studies and/or protocols assigned specific to this position, the role may recruit participants, collect data, biospecimens and other study duties.

 

This position works under general supervision and leadership from the NTRO supervisor or manager, and Principal Investigator, to implement and coordinate research, including administrative procedures.

 

This role will interact with higher levels, such as project roles, for general team guidance. This lead position is the highest level in the research coordinator pathway, this role is not a supervisory role.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as team lead on studies and is expected to mentor and coach more junior team members in the same PI group (lab) or disease program.
  • Will lead study recruitment initiatives on a team and act as a team lead in this capacity.
  • Performs documentation and data management activities in compliance with federal and local regulations.
  • Monitors quality assurance through oversight into the data management and data reporting of assigned protocols and ensure quality assurance for team. Works closely with team members and interns on quality assurance matters.
  • Reports team performance issues affecting quality to supervisor, manager and/or PI.
  • Leads the NTRO Research Coordinators in the portfolio of studies for assigned investigators.
  • Screen, identify eligibility, and consent participants. This could be any research participant, including community based or clinically based participants depending on the study needs.
  • Documents the consent process accurately pursuant to regulatory and Moffitt guidelines.
  • May conduct specimen collection, follow ups, and work of higher complexity in regard to research coordination.
  • Enters data and other pertinent information into the appropriate data softwares (i.e. Redcap, Powerchart, Oncore, sponsor specific EDC system).
  • May collect survey data or conduct interviews for some studies.
  • Responsible for independently updating protocols with PI’s approval for submission to the Regulatory Specialist.
  • Documents deviations timely and communicates with the proper stakeholders (PI, Regulatory, Management).
  • Will help to identify and support relationship building to assure study activities occur in a compliant and timely fashion.
  • Communication involves routinely conveying standardized information with Tissue Core, PRISM, and other shared resources at Moffitt to ensure that the recruitment, data and specimen collection are being coordinated properly
  • Communicates with external to NTRO department partners and Moffitt stakeholders to facilitate research collaborations to advance PI project goals.
  • Contribute to publications, posters, presentations, manuscripts with PI agreement, and is expected to assist with abstracts and basic publication work, as applicable.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in field relating to Public Health, Psychology, Biological Sciences or relevant field required, Master’s degree preferred.
    • In lieu of a bachelor's degree an associate's degree with 5 years of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant research experience required.
    • Master’s degree plus one (1) year of experience of relevant research experience required.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Critical thinking skills, ability to adapt quickly to respond to the needs of the study team.
  • Ability to be resourceful and independently problem solve while working under defined guidelines.
  • Applies higher level knowledge and skills related to study coordination to projects ranging in complexity, where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Has demonstrated ability to build productive internal/external working relationships.
