Job Description
Summary
Baylor College of Medicine's Otolaryngology Team is seeking a BCM Temporary - Registered Nurse.
As a BCM Temporary - Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for prioritizing care appropriately and maintaining professional patient and faculty relationships at all times. You will also need to demonstrate high-level written and verbal communication skills to assist with care coordination and clinical efficiency. Experience in a surgical specialty or desire to work in a dynamic, fast paced academic setting is preferred.
This is a temporary position and the maximum length of the assignment is 3 months. This position is not eligible for benefits.
The work schedule is flexible, but will be three days per week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Job Duties
- Communicate with BSLMC staff to schedule surgery, imaging, and diagnostic procedures.
- Effectively obtain appropriate pre and post surgical pictures of patients for planning and publication or social media purposes.
- Respond promptly to patient calls, MyChart messages, and refill requests per BCM policy and to build trust with patients and ensure appropriate follow-up care.
- Serve as a resource for clinical and administrative staff to assist with patient care, across sub-specialties.
- Contribute on a daily basis to clinical efficiency and maintain quality standards to comply with protocols set by BCM Quality Nursing.
- Along with clinical team, contribute to endoscope and instrument high-level disinfection and sterilization as needed.
- Provide RN triage as needed on 'Live Answer' calls from patients, hospital representatives, or referring physicians requesting inpatient consultation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- One year of relevant experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Degrees in lieu of experience will not be accepted.
- Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an outpatient setting.
- Experience with Epic.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Previous leadership experience.
- Customer service experience.
