Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH seeks  bilingual (English and Spanish) Lead Research Technologists  to manage, develop and design experimental studies focused in minority/underrepresented populations.

  • Must also analyze and evaluate data and information for national, Latin America, and other international genetics projects; manage and coordinate multiple sites in Latin America and the Caribbean (LARGE-PD) in research protocols; obtain local approval; assess resources required for pilot plans and evaluate local resources; identify methodology for sample processing, standardization and training; develop Case Reporting Forms (CRF); and provide training to LARGE-PD sites to capture and report clinical, epidemiological, environmental exposure, and cognitive information of participants through the REDCap platform.

  • Will liaison between institutions in Latin America and Cleveland Clinic, managing negotiations for agreements and contracts, including: Spanish to English and English to Spanish translations; providing details of their purpose; managing logistics and administration; monitoring compliance; coordinating amendments and renewals; and identifying service providers and supplies for the project.

  • Additional duties include: design, standardize, and execute experimental protocols; create and manage lab budgets; ship and receive biological materials; design and execute training for laboratory personnel;  maintain study documentation; develop risk assessment and contingency plans; prepare project updates and presentations; publication development, submission, and response to peer review for research studies; ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements; and ensure audit readiness to regulatory and legal standards.

  • Must utilize Microsoft packages, REDCap, Oracle, and Mutation Surveyor software. Responsible for maintaining REDCap platform and managing access at all LARGE-PD sites.

  • Position requires travel to national and international LARGE-PD sites 5% of the time.

Education:

  • At a minimum, the position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Genetics or related field or foreign equivalent as evidenced by a credentials evaluation and eight (8) years of progressively responsible genetics lab management and research experience.

Work Experience:

  • Experience to include: studying, researching, and interacting with minority/underrepresented populations, including Spanish speaking populations; developing protocol and CRFs; creating and managing national and international regulatory documentation; shipping and receiving biological materials nationally and internationally; instructing students and lab technicians on lab protocols; and creating and managing laboratory budgets. Of this experience, two (2) years must include experience with Microsoft packages, REDCap, Oracle, and Mutation Surveyor software.

  • Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Genetics or related field or foreign equivalent as evidenced by a credentials evaluation to offset two (2) years of the stated progressive experience.

  • Must be fluent in both English and Spanish.
