Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Cancer Immunology group at Pfizer is seeking a highly motivated, independent and driven Senior Associate Scientist to join the T Cell Biology team to identify and evaluate novel therapies in the Cancer Immunotherapy department. The candidate will provide scientific and technical support and work closely with their manager and other team members across Pfizer to generate decision-enabling data about new targets and mechanisms of action. The successful candidate will use a variety of tools including, molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques, as well as modern imaging techniques, bioinformatics, and in vitro assay skills.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contribute to the discovery and development of new small and large molecule therapeutic modalities for cancer immunotherapy.

• Execute in vitro experiments including but not limited to compound dose curves, co-culture of immune cells and cancer cell lines, and stimulation of immune cells.

• Perform flow cytometry staining of cells, operate flow cytometers, analyze flow cytometry data.

• Perform ELISA and luciferase assays and graph results.

• Sterile tissue culture of primary cells and maintenance of cell lines.

• Magnetic bead isolation of cells.

• Highly detailed and diligent record keeping for all experiments, reagent stocks, and frozen reagent/cellular stocks.

• Communicate experimental findings accurately and concisely in both oral and written formats during weekly lab meetings.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science degree in Immunology, Oncology, or related discipline with 3+ years relevant post-graduate industry experience or MS degree with 1+ years.

• Technical background in molecular and cellular biology.

• Experience in standard cell culture techniques including primary cell subset isolation and culture.

• Excellent organization skills and good verbal and written communication.

• Plans and executes experiments, including analysis and reporting of results, independently.

• Keeps thorough, up-to-date and detailed lab records for all lab reagents/assays/experiments.

• Adheres to rigorous experimental standards.

• Strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with T cell or myeloid/dendritic cell biology assays including activation, differentiation, proliferation, cytotoxic and suppression assays.

• Flow cytometry experience including instrument operation and analysis

• Experience with Tumor-T cell killing assays.

• Familiarity with Incucyte imaging.

Can perform complex data analysis.

Can interpret and apply results in the context of Pfizer programs and published literature.

Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to succeed in a team setting.


Work Location Assignment: On Premise


The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
