The Core Field Force Creation Center team creates comprehensive technology solutions for our internal global sales team.  This includes all digital products, platforms, services and experiences in service of: 

  • Customer facing activities, such as call planning, detailing and recording

  • Escalation of customer requests across Pfizer

ROLE SUMMARY

As Senior Manager, Engineering Lead – Medical Affairs Solutions, you will lead a high performing DevOps oriented team delivering critical and complex components in Salesforce and Veeva aligned to our roadmap, vision, strategy & business needs with a focus on the Pfizer solutions supporting the Medical Affairs customer facing colleagues. You will work alongside other platform, projects and product teams, ensuring their technical deliverables on the Salesforce.com / Veeva platform meet all applicable standards on application design, testing, quality and security.Salesforce.com powers many of Pfizer’s Commercial and Medical Affairs field force systems including Customer Relationship Management needs.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Your primary responsibilities will be to provide deep technical knowledge and technical leadership to the sprint team. You will be accountable for the successful delivery of sprint team technical objectives and managing a team of contract delivery resources.

  • Detailed understanding of the technical landscape, both inside and outside of Pfizer. The candidate will have proven subject matter expertise in multiple of our foundational technologies/areas including Salesforce.com, Veeva CRM, Veeva Vault and Copado. Whilst being recognized as a technical SME, this role requires you to understand the needs of the business and be able to successfully translate this knowledge into day-to-day decision-making.

  • Ensure that the correct design and engineering decisions are made for the platform. Actively share knowledge and make decisions based on multiple inputs across the wider team and BU.

  • Detail oriented, persistent, strong desire to produce quality applications focused on user experience.

  • Responsible for skills management of all technical resources in the team, ensuring the talent pool is appropriate for current and future needs.

  • Responsible for the management and development of continuous integration, release management, code quality and deployment capability for production applications across the platform ecosystem.

  • Be a champion of innovation within the immediate and wider team, developing resources & processes to adopt innovating thinking and approach to problems.

  • Embrace a DevOps mentality and ensure the model’s success, building a culture of shared responsibility and transparency leading to higher quality and far quicker delivery of output. Take part in the culture of measurement, learning and feedback.

  • Establish close partnerships with relevant Engineering and Operations colleagues to ensure alignment in all areas of development strategy, process, operational needs, DevOps culture and other areas relevant to excellence in the asset lifecycle of assets in the portfolio.

  • Use industry best practice and your own experience to ensure that security is baked in from the beginning and that the team fully embrace a DevSecOps and shift-left on security mentality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience as an information technology professional in roles such as a software architect and/or developer, systems engineer, computer engineer, engineering lead, technical team lead.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management or relevant disciplines.

  • Experience managing teams including the financials of contract or colleague resources.

  • Developing increasing responsibility in an engineering lead related role.

  • Minimum of 3 years recognized experience with Salesforce.com & Veeva (Custom and Lightning development preferred) with deep and broad experience working with Salesforce.com at enterprise scale.

  • Demonstrable experience operating in a DevOps environment as well as modern software engineering, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and releasing.

  • Demonstrable understanding of code versioning tools such as git.

  • Experience with Atlassian (Jira, Confluence), GitHub an asset.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish relationships, influence outcomes, and deliver effective presentations to a variety of audiences.

Ability to work with others in a constructive and collaborative manner & influence resources outside of the immediate span of control.

Ability to lead as well as influence and evangelize standards and practices in a complex, matrix environment with geographically distributed resources.

Detail oriented, persistent, strong desire to produce quality applications focused on user experience.

Ability to take a systematic approach to estimation of technical projects.

Excellent skills in analysis, critical thinking and planning, oral and written communication, consensus building, facilitation, negotiation and the ability to readily learn a new business area.

Technology solutions delivery in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment a bonus.

Our business is a 7x24x365 endeavor.  This role may on occasion require physical or virtual participation on a weekend, holiday, or after normal business hours.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300.00 to $195,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
