The successful candidate:

***Shift: M-F 7am – 3:30pm (5 8s) OR 7am-5:30PM (4 10s- days during week TBD)***

The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for accurately performing a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests and reporting results within the expected turnaround time to assist healthcare providers deliver the most optimal patient outcomes. Maintains an understanding of the theory behind each of these laboratory procedures and has ability to identify and report problems. Performs, as assigned, all required equipment maintenance, calibration and quality control testing per departmental procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Demonstrate technical competency in all the applicable areas by completing all identified testing/department duties within the specified timeframes
  • Performs laboratory testing (quality control, patient and proficiency) in all assigned areas of the laboratory
  • Evaluates the validity of test results, understands clinical implications and notifies appropriate personnel of critical tests/results
  • Demonstrates competency in operation and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
  • Documents and maintains the appropriate records required by the hospital and laboratory accrediting agencies
  • Ensures, within their scope of work, compliance with all applicable federal, state, accrediting and other regulatory agencies
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, by Laboratory Director, Manager or Supervisor

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences or related field OR Associate's Degree required.

Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience working in the laboratory.

Certification: MLS or MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB) Preferred at Hire or Required within 18 months of hire

Special Skills: Professional demeanor, effective collaboration and communication skills ensuring team work with co-workers, nursing staff and physicians. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Above average problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $27.76 - $45.67 / hour
