What You Will Achieve
Viral Vaccines is looking for a highly experienced biomedical engineer with automation experience to support several mRNA vaccine programs. In this position, you will actively support the technology transfer and integration of a new laboratory with automation/ high-throughput capabilities for screening and candidate selection purposes across VRD. Additionally, you will play an important role in the design, cloning and validation of different vaccine construct candidates while working in a very dynamic and collaborative environment.
The selected candidate should have a strong work ethic and collaborative personality and will directly interact with the manager and other group members on a regular basis as well as functional lines within Vaccines R&D (VRD).
How You Will Achieve It
Designing intermediate to advanced protocols, scripting, testing, optimization and troubleshooting of moderately to complex liquid handler workstations for High Throughput and screening purposes (Hamilton STAR, KingFisher, EpMotion…)
Collecting and analyzing data, setting up new protocols and supporting troubleshooting.
Working independently to analyze, interpret and summarize experimental data.
Presenting progress on platform development and sample analysis to colleagues and senior management.
Maintaining a detailed inventory of freezer reagents and samples organized and up to date.
Maintaining laboratory notebooks in compliance with the Pfizer Laboratory Notebook Policy.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor's degree with +5 years of experience or Master's degree with +3 years of experience in a relevant field of science acquired in an academic or industrial setting.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience of programming experience using Hamilton liquid handlers (intermediate to advanced knowledge)
Experience with programming languages (Phyton, R and/or JavaScript)
Proficient in sample preparation in various assays using Hamilton liquid handler workstations and validation of robotic methods.
Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate and work in a fast-paced team environment.
Highly organized, detail-oriented and excellent writing and communication skills.
Expert in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas and functions).
Nice-to-Have
Experience in molecular biology techniques (cloning, sequencing analysis, in vitro transcription (IVT) and analytics, transfection of different cell lines…etc)
Experience with LIMS, GeneData or similar biopharma platforms would be preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is primarily performed at the laboratory bench and at an office desk using a computer. The job involves lifting relatively light loads, not more than 10 pounds. This position may require the ability to stand and reach inside the hardware environment of various laboratory robotic equipment.
