The Division of Nephrology, Hypertension and Transplant Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor for a Transplant Nephrologist to assist in expanding the kidney and kidney pancreas transplant program. The Transplant Nephrologist will assist the current transplant surgeons, transplant nephrologists, transplant pharmacist, transplant nurses, nurse practitioners and ancillary staff in providing exceptional care to our kidney and kidney-pancreas transplant candidates and recipients. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.
Responsibilities
Clinical:
- Provide out-patient care to Transplant Nephrology patients including Pre-transplant, Post-transplant, and Living Donor candidates.
- Supervise General Nephrology, Transplant Residents, Transplant Fellows and Medical Students in clinic and hospital rotations.
- Focus on specific disease entities in renal diseases and transplantation.
- Cover assigned blocks of duty and staff Pre-transplant evaluation clinics, Living Donor Evaluation Clinics, Post -Transplant Clinics, In-patient Transplant Service, chart reviews with transplant coordinators and out-reach rotations.
- Be an active member of the Multi-Disciplinary Transplant Team, Transplant Selection Committee, Living Donor Committee, Transplant Physician Committee, Transplant QAPI Committee and other regular Transplant Staff Meetings.
- Develop and serve as principal investigator for investigator-initiated studies.
- Introduce state of the art Phase III and IV clinical trials.
- Collect and analyze data and present at national conferences.
- Enroll patients in clinical studies.
- Participate in other clinical activities of the division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine, Surgery and Transplant Services as necessary.
- Actively participate in teaching activities in support of students, residents and fellows.
- Your clinical responsibilities will consist of Inpatient rotations, post-transplant outpatient clinics, Pre-transplant evaluation/ Re-evaluation clinics, living donor evaluation (all equally divided amongst transplant nephrologists), transplant outreach (all as assigned) as well as participation in weekday, weekend, and holiday call.
- You will be expected to conduct scholarly activities and mentor fellows.
- Patient Satisfaction Scores will meet or exceed benchmark.
- Participate in Monthly/Quarterly meetings with the Chief of Nephrology.
- Generate work RVU's at or above the 65th Percentile for Nephrology Academic Faculty as reported by the Faculty Practice Solution Center
Teaching:
- Participate in didactic lectures to medical students, residents, fellows, and Advanced Practice Providers on appropriate topics.
- Beside teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Required Qualifications
MD/DO degree or equivalent from an accredited institution, completed an accredited Nephrology Transplant Fellowship Program and be board certified or board eligible in Nephrology.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
