As a Mammography Technologist, you will work in a rewarding position providing mammography screening, diagnostic, and interventional procedures, and care services at defined levels to patients. Your primary duties will include: 

Positioning patients, determining exposure factors, and operating mammography equipment. 

Reviewing processed images to determine quality. 

Educating patients on the procedure and exam process, ensuring their understanding and comfortability.  

Reporting any malfunctions to the help desk and proper administration.  

Assisting with instrument calibration and records.  


The ideal future caregiver is someone who: 

Comes to work, eager and ready to learn. 

Can work independently under minimal supervision.  

Has knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes. 

Currently is a Registered Technologist by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT). 

Currently certified in Mammography: R.T.(R) (M) (ARRT) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities:

  • Adjusts and controls complex electronic equipment in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic mammography examinations.
  • Prepares and positions patient prior to procedures to ensure their safety and to obtain desired reports for diagnostic purposes.
  • Calculates and selects appropriate equipment and technical factors such as proper type of film and amount of kilovolts or milliamperes.
  • Maintains working conditions of all equipment and reports any malfunctions or needs for adjustments to appropriate personnel.
  • Accurately documents and notates technical and clinical information.
  • Assists in maintaining sanitary condition of radiology area.
  • Obtains complete patient history.
  • Stays abreast of current developments in field by reviewing available literature and attending appropriate programs.
  • Properly evaluates requisitions including identifying patient and procedure to be performed.
  • Complies with all Radiology Information System entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors.
  • Follows system and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
  • Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Maintains required BLS.
  • Other duties as assigned


Education:

  • Completion of Radiologic Technology programs from approved schools.


Certifications:

  • Current license by state of Ohio. Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technology. Advanced certification in mammography ARRT.


Complexity of Work:

  • Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
