The Department of Pathology at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University invites applications at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor for an individual with strong diagnostic skills for a full-time faculty position in the Section of Anatomic Pathology. This includes sign out of general surgical pathology and subspecialty anatomic pathology biopsy and surgical cases as per monthly faculty schedule, teaching medical students/residents (didactic and unknown conference sessions), and providing subspecialty consultation and present pathology at subspecialty tumor boards. Scholarly activities and research is highly encouraged. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

Responsibilities

• Sign out of general surgical pathology and subspecialty anatomic pathology biopsy and surgical cases as per monthly faculty schedule
• Frozen section coverage as per the monthly faculty schedule
• Co-scoping with resident and medical student during signout
• Perform/supervise and sign out adult autopsies on a rotation basis
• Evening, weekend and holiday calls on a rotation basis

Required Qualifications

MD degree or equivalent, and be board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with training and/or certification in one or more surgical pathology subspecialties. Georgia license or eligibility for licensure to practice medicine in Georgia is required.

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.

Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

- Evidence of ability as a teacher;

- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
