The department of Information Technology Services at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for an ERP Operations team member.

About the Opportunity

This position is responsible for serving as a Mid-Level technical operations team member for the WVU ITS Operations personnel. This position will also participate in projects for the administration of complex information technology projects critical to the mission of West Virginia University.

As an Operations Team member, you will assure all control policies, procedures, and guidelines are adhered to regarding vendor code, in-house developed code, functional enhancements, scheduling, security, and operational procedures. This position is constantly reviewing current procedures and operations for improvements and situations which could jeopardize security. This position assures all paperwork, and controls are documented for auditing purposes. You will be part of the academic systems operations team; however, you will work independently and take ownership of projects while consulting with other team members for guidance and support as needed.

What You'll Do

Serve as the ERP operations technician, provide advanced level Application Administration, troubleshooting and support university ERP and data integrations. This includes directly integrated applications and multiple interfaces to mission critical solutions such as identity management, Banner
Document Management (OpenText), and Banner workflow to name a few. Work directly with faculty, students, and other technical users to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
Responsible for maintaining for overall data integrity of the student information system by ensuring IT change management processes are followed to include accurate cataloging of patch clusters and signoffs/approvals are obtained from business units before promoting changes to production.
Oversee and coordinate account security functions including communicating with the module chairs to create, modify, and delete accounts as well as releasing accounts to users, running processes to monitor accounts and access, performing annual account verification, investigating means to keep the Student Information System access security, and working with DBAs, Developers, and Business Analysts to assure account security structure).
Coordinate the planning, testing, and scheduling of Vendor Software releases, service packs, patches, and server add-ons. This includes system updates, upgrades, configuring building blocks, and other software integrated with the Student Information Systems. Looks for and recommends solutions or process change to increase efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining a secure and auditable system.
Collaborate with technical and functional staff within the Student Information Systems as well as developers, database, and systems administrators to ensure necessary backups and restores for each system are performed along with performing regular testing of business continuity plans for all production databases.
Examine and analyze existing operations and integrations to determine if improvements can be made, taking into consideration the needs of academic and administrative users. Prioritize efforts, work with developers, DBAs, Systems, and other IT units to create, test and implement improved operations and integration processes.
Serve as primary technical liaison to vendors for tools and plug-ins and provide 24x7 liaison contact support to vendors when issues are considered Severity 1, production system is down, or the university is severely impacted.
Provide 24x7 service by being on call in rotation with other technical staff to ensure continuous availability of the production systems and perform application administrative maintenance, software upgrades/patching, testing and verification and custom code application to production systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience. A degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
A minimum of four (4) years combined experience involving:
ERP Administration/Management
Scheduling and processing production critical jobs in a relational database environment, preferably Oracle/UNIX Design
Developing technical documentation for peers and general users
Following an established systems development lifecycle (SDLC)
Broad knowledge of computer security issues, requirements, and trends, including an awareness of information security laws (such as HIPAA, FERPA) and accepted industry practices for auditing requirements.
Server based application administration
Knowledge of System Administration
Ability to use SQL*PLUS, PL/SQL, SQL*Loader
Ability to use PowerShell
Ability to use enterprise job scheduler.
Knowledge of the administration of an enterprise document management suite
