Job Description

Summary

The lab is looking for highly motivated candidates to join a team of scientists, physicians, postdoctoral fellows, technicians, and graduate students to support research on cellular immunotherapy at the department of Pediatrics, Hematology-Oncology cell and gene therapy at BCM. The technician will provide responsible technical assistance in support of research projects by completing assignments requiring a basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to basic and translational research in cellular immunotherapy of cancer. The technician will work under supervision in accordance with general plans approved by the principal investigator. Salaries are commensurate with a candidate's experience level.

Job Duties

  • Optimizes and performs research experiments to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations.
  • Records, summarizes and analyzes research data generated from experiments.
  • Conducts aseptic cell culture for production and propagation of tumor lines, CAR T cells and antigen-specific T cells.
  • Performs PCR, cloning and retroviral/lentiviral transduction for genetic modification of T cells and tumor lines.
  • Performs flow cytometry and immunological assays including multiplex assays, ELISA, ELISPOT and Western blotting.
  • Works with small rodent models of cancer immunotherapy.
  • Works on immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry and image analysis using scientific imaging software.
  • Uses statistical packages like R or Graph-pad Prism to plot and analyze experiential data.
  • Uses office suite, instrument interface and other software for data collation, compilation, and analysis.
  • Performs research experiments to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations in cell and gene therapy applications under the supervision of principal investigator.
  • Prepares figures and analyzes for presentations and publications.
  • Coordinates ordering, shipping, and receiving of research materials.
  • Coordinates with other users on instrument and core facility use.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Biochemistry/Cell biology/Biotechnology/Immunology/Any life Sciences.
  • Experience full time/part time working in research laboratory.
  • Experience working in aseptic cell culture techniques, Retroviral/lentiviral transduction, flow cytometry, RT-PCR, IHC, ICC, small rodent handling, bioinformatics background and working knowledge of statistical packages like R or Prism.
