The Gene Therapy & Rare Disease Lead is a unique role, aligned with the Go-To-Market model of the Business Unit Rare Diseases, that covers all elements of developing a new business model for the launch of Gene Therapies & part of Rare Disease portfolio. It includes National marketing and commercial responsibility for the respective brand/portfolio.

As the Gene Therapy Lead you will lead efforts in partnership with the Country Lead RD and local in-country cross-functional team to develop and drive commercial strategies in-country for the emerging Gene Therapy business platform & portfolio. The Gene Therapy & Portfolio Lead ensures the development of an infrastructure of care in Sweden which enables the access of our Gene Therapies & Portfolio for rare disease patients.

Commercial/Market Development:

Be the key market expert with full understanding of the environment, competitors, customer, and patient’s needs to build the country strategic, supply, communication, and tactical plans as well as revenue/budget forecasting. Manage and be accountable of DME budget. Have a full understanding of the financial market dynamics in relation to the portfolio/brand. Build the new infrastructure of care and patient journey to enable the access of the Gene Therapies & Portfolio to patients. The Gene Therapy Lead is also the leader and orchestrater of the related internal cross functional team.

Customer Facing:

Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with our key customers like KOLs, prescribers, (specialist-) nurses, hospital pharmacists, DMUs and payers. Able to create meaningful contracts with the Infusion Centers where appropriate and being their first Point of Contact.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide key expertise and resources to build local cross functional GTx capabilities including the design and recommendation of local “go to market” strategies.
  • Lead GLocal collaboration to design and implement cross-functional commercial organization to support optimal “go to market” strategies and tactics including e.g., field selling, contracting, pricing and reimbursement, patient access and support, and interactions with patient advocacy groups.
  • Provide key expertise and resources to support local colleagues for shaping processes to ensure health systems are prepared to deliver the innovative GTx treatments to patients, in collaboration with Public Affairs, Medical Affairs and Access teams.
  • Partner with Global Launch Teams to co-create, prioritize, simplify, and deliver in-country asset level launch readiness per the Launch Excellence framework.
  • Collaborate with the Country Lead RD and H&V Director to develop new payment and distribution models for GTx medicines to ensure access and affordability.
  • Develop, collate, and coordinate country level Operating Plan for GTx & Portfolio, LRF and resourcing requirements and robust financial forecasting to optimize performance in alignment with Country Lead RD
  • Participate on external GTx committees as required to advance policies, education, and environmental shaping to optimize patient access to GTx medicines in collaboration with in-country organization.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs regarding activities to identify GTx infusion centers and determine requirements to shape those into GTx “centers of excellence” in support of our go to market strategies.
  • Lead and manage activities for internal & external GTx education and training.
  • Conduct all activities and makes decisions that are in accordance with company policies and SOPs, Pfizer Values, global regulatory guidelines as well as on a local level.
  • Support key existing in-country level GTx business partnerships and strategic alliances with biotech companies, academic institutions, and various gene therapy focused industry groups.
  • Launch and handle the Rare Disease Portfolio

Advance the Reputation of Pfizer in Rare Disease and GTx

  • In collaboration with our Global and local Corporate Affairs & Communication team, lead and manage the development of external local in-country specific communications materials and messages that help to improve Pfizer’s GTx Leadership position and “GTx Partner of Choice” reputation.
  • Develop strong leadership presence at Global and local in-country external GTx conferences and meetings.
  • Coordinate local in-country GTx conference attendance and presentations across Pfizer Global GTx colleagues andsenior leaders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree preferably in life sciences and 6+ years pharmaceutical or relevant experience
  • MBA and/or PhD preferred.
  • Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry in commercial, business development and/or strategy leadership roles required. Experience in inline marketing and new product planning
  • Strong experience leading new business strategy and development activities required.
  • Experience in omnichannel marketing
  • Previous customer facing experience in the designated RD therapeutic area.
  • Strategic and analytic thinking.Acts a key strategic link between scientists and business leaders, must have a strong understanding of drug development as well as highly effective analytical, extrapolative thinking and influencing skills.
  • Strong understanding of the future direction of market access trends worldwide
  • Planning and organizational excellence
  • Entrepreneurial mindset combined with business, marketing and finance acumen.
  • Managing complexity across brands – ability to simplify complex situations into simple solutions.
  • Ability to influence and inspire across stakeholders in a matrix environment.
  • Outstanding relationship-building and partnering skills and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to drive commercial input on development programs.
  • Knowledge and expertise in building multi-stakeholder partnerships & networks.
  • Broad knowledge and experience of Swedish healthcare and pharmaceutical environment.
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively with others across functions.
  • Experience of strategy development based on customer/market insights.
  • Decisive, result driven, solution oriented, proactive, can-do mentality, seizes accountability, agile.
  • Strong Communication and Presentation Skills, both Swedish (fluent) and English language is required.
