Role Summary

The Manager, Deductions & Reverse Distribution leads the team responsible for the management of Pfizer’s deductions resolution & returns management for all US & PR Business Units. This colleague will work closely with Customer Service, Finance, Business Unit teams, DC Operations, and Pfizer’s third party returns providers to effectively meet the needs of Pfizer’s business operations and our direct pharmaceutical trade customers.This position requires financial acumen, self-direction, sound decision making, people management, and the ability to apply complex business rules/policies to achieve business objectives in compliance with internal controls.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and functional guidance as well as oversight to team members.
  • Responsible for the management of all aspects of the reverse distribution process for Pfizer’s direct and indirect trade customers. This includes ensuring compliance to company return policies by ensuring adequate processes are in place internal to Pfizer as well as with our third party returns providers.
  • Responsible for timely research and resolution for all deductions/claims taken by Pfizer’s trading partners covering all pharmaceutical businesses. Ensure the team meets set performance metrics and works closely with credit/collections on overall dispute resolution.
  • Collaborate with various internal stakeholders including Finance, Customer Service, Distribution Operations, Trade Account Management, and Brand Teams to ensure clear customer communication, prompt issuance of credits due customers, and timely resolution of disputes.
  • Provide extensive knowledge of Pfizer’s trade policies, product portfolio and the trade industry. Leverages that knowledge in day-to-day operational decision making, which includes trouble shooting and providing timely feedback/resolution to customer disputes.
  • Responsible for monitoring/reviewing order to cash transactions within Returns and Deductions teams to ensure financial controls and compliance with SOX guidelines. Works with external and internal auditors for testing and ensuring compliance for internal controls.
  • Engage team in identifying continuous improvement initiatives and support the department with any activities required.
  • Responsible for developing and providing appropriate and timely training on key business processes to ensure colleagues have the proper guidance and tools. Ensures all SOP’s and job aids for area are accurate and up to date.
  • Manage the performance of direct reports through goal setting, ongoing assessment, and coaching. Conduct regular One-on-One mentoring/training sessions, individual development plan (IDP) and performance reviews.

Basic Qualifications

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • Bachelor's Degree minimum required
  • Required: 5+ years of experience minimum in order-to-cash or finance environments.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • People management experience.
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making skills and an ability to understand complex financial reporting and the order to cash processes.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a timely and organized manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools

Nice-to-Have

  • Master's degree and relevant pharmaceutical experience.
  • Hands on experience with SAP Order to Cash & FSCM (Financial Supply Chain Management).
  • Experience working with large wholesalers/distributors as well as 3rd party return providers.
  • Experience with business reporting systems, such as Business Objects

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $93,500.00 to $155,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
