ROLE SUMMARY

The mRNA Commercial Strategy & Innovation team is responsible for mRNA pipeline assets and to shape and deliver the future global strategy for mRNA investments.

This role will work closely with asset leads to manage multiple mRNA pipeline assets from early stage (pre-clinical / phase 1) to late stage (phase 3). Depending on asset and stage of development, the role creates value for Pfizer by assessing the value of assets and optimizing the value of assets from definition of target product profile to launch excellence preparation during later development stages.

The colleague will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently in a large matrixed environment and demonstrate agility to prioritize and pivot based on asset and market needs.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Portfolio Definition

  • Working with asset leads, facilitate the development and regular refresh of Pfizer’s mRNA pipeline.

  • Lead forecast modeling including defining key assumptions (market share, price, competitors, etc.) for assets under consideration and a part of the portfolio.


Business Development Support

  • Maintain an understanding of external mRNA assets in development, and non-mRNA assets for assigned disease areas.

  • Conduct commercial assessments during the due-diligence process by building a commercial perspective on target assets (e.g., market potential, possible peak sales and ramp up in various scenarios).

Asset Development (early, medium, and late stage)

  • Working with asset leads, identify value drivers and relevant target populations for late pre-clinical and early clinical assets based on an understanding of the epidemiology / burden of disease, health economics, patient flows, current standards of care, etc.

  • Working with Business Assessment, develop early forecast scenarios and provide initial asset value for the internal portfolio prioritization process.

  • As asset progresses to mid/late stage, refine initial understanding of value drivers as identified during early development.

  • Define and execute market research projects to validate forecasts as appropriate; evaluate competitive landscape and explore points of differentiation from mRNA vaccine composition and / or target population point of view.

Launch Preparation and market readiness

  • Support marketing team by driving pre-launch preparation for assets to ensure launch excellence:

  • Market development (e.g., disease awareness, epi-data generation, building of access enablers).

  • Product positioning, branding, and segmentation.

  • Detailed launch planning and tracking.

  • Facilitate a cross-functional commercial sub-team to align around key insights and inputs to inform commercial assessment and recommendations.

General

  • Support the annual strategic and operating plan process.

  • Conduct analyses supporting inputs into the mRNA disease area and investment strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS required; MBA preferred.

  • 7+ years pharma experience, less with advanced degree.

  • Prior experience with US and/or global product launch excellence planning. Preference for pharma industry and business knowledge: trends in healthcare and pharmaceuticals; customer and stakeholder landscape, competitive dynamics, regulatory and access environment, delivery systems, channels, and sources of business in the US and/or developed markets.

  • Research & Analytics: Demonstrates understanding of analytic tool/methods, ability to generate strong customer insights and market intelligence. Effectively links insights to implications to inform strategy, planning and execution.

  • Collaboration: Works effectively within teams and across organizations and enterprise; shares responsibilities and credit; take appropriate risks; celebrates/rewards accomplishments; demonstrates and instills in others a sense of urgency and ownership.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300.00 to $195,500.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
