Description:
The Desktop Support Intern's role is to assist the IT Support team in providing technical support for end users within the institution's enterprise network environment. This includes assisting with investigating and resolving software, hardware, networking, and other computer-related issues for users of various desktop, laptop, and mobile devices.

- Shadows IT support technicians to learn how to support computers in a research environment.
- Provides first contact support for incoming work requests to the help desk to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end-user issues.
- Supports end-user workstations by installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting end-user workstations and related hardware and software to deliver basic levels of support.
- Performs basic diagnostic testing and troubleshooting.
- Supports information security for networked computing devices through various technologies.
- Provides one-to-one user training and assistance regarding email, security, and other end-point applications.
- Learns about changing technologies and new products.
- Identifies and learns appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the institution.

Work Hours
Typically, Monday-Friday between 8:30am-5:00pm. 40-hour onsite work week. Some work may be required outside the normal working hours.
