What Your Job Will Be Like:

We have a great opportunity for a Microelectronics/Semiconductor Technologist to join our compound semiconductor microelectronics team as a Work in Progress (WIP) coordinator! We work in a highly collaborative teaming environment to develop new custom application specific components and circuits with direct, relevant impact to our national security mission.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Perform a wide variety of WIP and laboratory management activities including but not limited to: starting lots, updating and generating specification files and process plans, writing and maintaining process documentation, managing inventories, coordinating deliveries and hand-offs, performing inspections and final quality assessments, preparing material for product acceptance, managing our organization¿s website, etc.
  • Maintain established baseline processes, and as appropriate, work with senior staff to further mature processes into the low-variability, well-characterized and documented processes required for qualified component delivery to our customers.
  • Collaborate and team with MESA MicroFab Operations personnel and other Sandia technical staff.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

$72,800 - $140,600

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) or more years' experience in overseeing records management, program tasks, and tracking project status or deliverables
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L clearance

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Experience working in semiconductor manufacturing
  • Experience with Factoryworks Integrated manufacturing systems
  • Experience performing inspections on NNSA Mark Quality product
  • High attention to detail and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task effectively
  • Active DOE L clearance

About Our Team:

The III-V Microelectronics Department is responsible for the research and technology foundation of Group III-V compound semiconductors within the Microsystems Science, Technology and Components Center that enables the creation, development and delivery of microelectronic components addressing high-performance, harsh-environment communication, sensing and control problems. We work throughout the Technology Readiness Level range from TRL1 (basic principles observed and reported) to TRL6 (representative of the deliverable demonstrated in relevant environments), and partner as appropriate to assure the delivery of qualified products to our customers. Our Department focus in working from TRL3 (key elements demonstrated analytically or experimentally) to TRL4/5 (key elements demonstrated in a controlled/relevant environment) offers value to customers interested in the feasibility of proposed microtechnology or microsystems integration solutions to their problems, and to customers who need a trusted partner or supplier to create and deliver on stated performance, size, weight, power and cost benefits relative to alternatives. Meeting project milestone and delivery commitments are critical to success in our R&D business. Core Department capabilities include electronic modeling and simulation; epitaxial design, growth and characterization; rad-hard microelectronic device and circuit design, microfabrication, characterization, and reliability; and high-reliability microelectronic product design, characterization, and delivery for high-consequence system applications.
