Job Description
Summary
A Research Assistant position is available at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy, Baylor College of Medicine. Projects involve engineering T cells as a therapy of cancer and include construct design, molecular cloning, and functional assays in preclinical models of human cancer in vitro and in vivo. The candidate would be testing initial hypotheses in pilot experiments and helping advance the projects lead by others in the lab. The candidate would join a dynamic, diverse, and experienced team of scientists passionate about translational research and clinical trials.
Job Duties
- Design and perform molecular cloning and expression analysis in human lymphocytes and analyze results with limited guidance.
- Design and perform functional cell culture assays and analyze results with limited guidance.
- Test lead constructs in xenograft mouse models.
- Analyze and integrate experimental results and present at weekly meetings.
- Troubleshoot arising experimental and directional issues.
- Analyze literature on the subject of the projects and discuss the findings.
- Assist with writing reports and manuscripts and present at scientific meetings.
- Log and maintain experimental notes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
- Two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree basic science or in a related field.
- Experience in cell culture assays.
- Experience in translational immunology and cell engineering is preferred.
