Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer,Âthe Vice President, Enterprise Business Solutions provides strategic leadership and executive oversight for a portfolio of mission-critical platforms and services that enable and advance operations across Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, Supply Chain, Research Financials, Compliance, Legal, and Operational Services. This role is responsible for guiding the vision, direction, implementation, optimization, and governance of enterprise systems, most notably Workday ERP and UKG Pro, to drive institutional growth, workforce transformation, compliance, and operational excellence.
This is an enterprise-wide leadership position that goes beyond technical oversight, encompassing broad strategic, financial, operational, and transformational accountability across all major business domains.

Strategic Planning
- Define and execute a forward-looking enterprise applications strategy that enables success in financial performance, workforce development, supply chain optimization, research administration, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and maintain multi-year system roadmaps for critical platforms, ensuring they remain responsive to organizational goals, regulatory requirements, user expectations, and market trends.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, integrating technology with institutional goals and enterprise digital transformation efforts.
- Proactively identify emerging technology opportunities and risk factors, guiding the Instituteâs investment, adoption, and governance strategies to ensure long-term success, resilience, and competitive advantage.
Leadership and Management
- Provide strategic leadership to multidisciplinary teams responsible for application architecture, design, implementation, support, and innovation.
- Lead a broad portfolio of platforms supporting core enterprise functions that serve thousands of users and process billions in payroll, financials, and research funding.
- Build and scale a high-performing organization through mentorship, succession planning, and career development. Champion a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Establish sustainable legacy structures such as training pipelines, onboarding toolkits, and leadership development frameworks to ensure long-term organizational growth and knowledge continuity.
Budget Management
- Oversee a $5M applications portfolio within a $9M operating budget and a variable capital budget supporting large-scale initiatives.
- Lead financial planning and high-impact decisions regarding SaaS investments, licensing, consulting services, and resource allocation to ensure optimal value and risk management.
- Align technology spend with enterprise priorities, delivering measurable returns in efficiency, compliance, and performance.
Technology Implementation & Enablement
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the successful implementation, optimization, and sustainment of enterprise technologies from business case development and vendor selection through delivery, technical integration, and post-implementation support.
- Lead continuous optimization of core platforms including Workday ERP and UKG Pro, ensuring they evolve with organizational needs and industry best practices. Manage major platform expansions, module activations, and system reconfigurations to support changing business requirements, workforce models, and regulatory landscapes.
- Drive delivery of solutions beyond ERP, including research systems, legal/compliance tools, and digital procurement transformation.
- Integrate robust change management, training, and communication strategies to ensure successful user adoption and long-term operational enablement.
- Ensure all solutions are delivered with a focus on scalability, sustainability, and business value, and are fully supported with long-term service models, technical documentation, and performance metrics.
Security and Compliance
- Ensure enterprise applications meet regulatory and security standards (HIPAA, SOX, FLSA, grant regulations) through robust access controls, audit readiness, and governance frameworks.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Internal Audit to proactively manage enterprise risk and ensure regulatory adherence across platforms.
Vendor and Partner Management
- Lead strategic relationships with technology vendors, SaaS providers, and service partners to ensure alignment with long-term institutional needs.
- Oversee contract negotiations, performance governance, and vendor accountability through structured SLAs, KPIs, and executive-level escalation protocols.
- Influence vendor product roadmaps and drive innovation through collaborative, value-focused partnerships.
Project and Program Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight for a portfolio of enterprise-wide initiatives, ensuring delivery of business value, Institute alignment, and operational scalability.
- Govern complex, multi-phase implementations and transformation programs through structured program management, stakeholder engagement, and executive-level reporting.
- Lead change initiatives that reshape business processes, elevate user experience, and position the organization for future growth and innovation.
Enterprise Collaboration
- Serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to across all major functions, translating business needs into scalable solutions that enhance productivity, data quality, and service delivery.
- Drive alignment and engagement across departments, fostering a shared vision for digital transformation and operational improvement. Facilitate enterprise-wide collaboration to streamline business processes, standardize practices, and optimize the use of core platforms.
- Champion a unified, cross-functional approach to technology planning, implementation, and support, ensuring systems are not only technically sound but also responsive to the evolving needs of the organization. Proactively identify opportunities for integration, automation, and innovation that cut across silos and drive long-term value
Performance Monitoring and Operational Excellence
- Define and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and service metrics related to system uptime, support responsiveness, data quality, and operational efficiency.
Lead structured release management cycles (e.g., Workday biannual updates), regression testing, and readiness planning to ensure continuity and adoption.
Innovation and Emerging Technologies
- Champion enterprise innovation through the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies such as AI/ML, predictive analytics, platform extensibility, and workflow automation.
- Drive adoption of next-generation capabilities within platforms like Workday Extend, Adaptive Planning, and UKG Pro enhancements to improve user experience and business agility.
- Build a culture of experimentation, encouraging teams to pilot, evaluate, and scale innovations grounded in business value and regulatory alignment.
- Position enterprise applications as a key driver of digital transformation and institutional modernization.
- Bachelors Degree, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field required
- Masters Degree, MS in Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in business systems and technology strategy, ERP technologies and healthcare IT leadership.
- Minimum of 8 years of supervisory/management experience, with a proven track record of leading diverse teams.
- Extensive experience with ERP systems, including implementation, optimization, and integration with business workflows.
- Demonstrated success in leading large-scale technology initiatives in a healthcare setting.
Pay Transparency Statement
The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidateâs relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
