AsPhlebotomyTechnician, you are an integral member of the Medical Laboratory Team. Many patients often find needles and the idea of having their blood drawn frightening. Using your experience and skills, you can help put the patient at ease while obtaining all the required specimens. A caregiver in this position worksdays| 8:00am—12:00pm or 9:00am—5:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipunctureproceduresand maintain appropriate log sheets.

• Verify order requests andidentifyinformation prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.

• Label all specimens collected and deliver them to theappropriate processingarea.

• Perform specimen processing and send out tasks,including accessioning,centrifugationand packaging.

• Pick up and deliver blood, other sampletypesand lab supplies.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Technicalproficiencywith standard procedures,techniquesand common practices

• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Formal Phlebotomy Certification

• Phlebotomy experience
