Job Description
Job SummaryWith minimal supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and support systems of varying complexity at Michigan Medicine. The primary responsibility is whole-house coverage at the University Hospital, Children and Women's Hospital, Cardiovascular Center, and other on-campus locations at Michigan Medicine. Responsibilities include corrective and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of medical equipment. Equipment responsibilities include, but are not limited to, patient monitoring systems, nurse call systems, TV systems, patient equipment, operating room equipment, and other equipment as assigned.
Responsibilities*
Work performed is documented in the work order database system AIMS. Additional duties include identifying and preparing parts and materials necessary for repairs and preventive maintenance on assigned devices. This is an eight-day on, six-day off rotation with 10-hour shifts, Wednesday to Wednesday, 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM. Cross-training for other Biomedical Engineering Technicians for expanded backup support is also required. The technician must have a valid Michigan driver's license and be able to drive a motor vehicle.
Required Qualifications*
An associate degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent Military training is required. Knowledge and experience with advanced analog and digital electronics. More than eight years of experience repairing and maintaining medical equipment, preferably in a hospital environment.
