What Your Job Will Be Like:

Are you ready to make a difference in high-visibility, high-impact national defense programs? As an ASICs Production Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) that are critical to Sandia's mission and our nation's security.

In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, you'll collaborate with Product Realization Teams across legacy and new weapons programs to improve operational workflow planning, monitor progress, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products on time and on budget. You'll coordinate activities across design, wafer fabrication, packaging, testing, and qualification, driving major milestones and solving complex challenges along the way.

On any given day you may perform the following;

  • Coordinate activities across design, manufacturing, procurement, and supply chain teams.
  • Collaborate to develop and report production status and risks, and facilitate communication between leadership, engineering, and manufacturing execution.
  • Partner with leadership, resource planning, operations, product engineering and manufacturing, supply chain team, and quality teams to resolve bottlenecks and support technology ramp-ups.
  • Oversee manufacturing processes, ensuring that production operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely.
  • Work with PRT leadership to deploy resources to quickly resolve technical manufacturing issues, and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Define, develop, and implement strategies to improve Work-in-Process (WIP), cycle time, and overall throughput in a complex, low-volume, high-mix, high-rigor semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Engage and team with Numerous groups at SNL (e.g. component engineers, surveillance, systems engineering, technical subject matter experts, SNL Production Agency, etc)

The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Salary Range:

$87,400 - $199,700

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Qualifications We Require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus 5 or more years of directly relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the job function.
  • Experience working in a semiconductor/microelectronics fabrication production environment or experience in microelectronics packaging and assembly.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Ability to collaborate to develop comprehensive production schedules, capacity plans, and material requirements.
  • Ability to monitor workflow milestones to ensure production deadlines and targets are met.
  • Ability to work to establish and ensure factory standards, business processes, and operational strategies to maintain consistent production.
  • Have proficiency in production control systems and ERP production planning systems.
  • Ability to work under tight production deadlines
  • Excel at cross-functional coordination, problem-solving, and communication
  • Familiarity with MESA electronic systems such a FactoryWORKS, CoPilot, and MESAWeb

About Our Team:

The Post-Fab Product Realization department (05236) is responsible for the development, manufacturing, and delivery of robust systems that deliver microelectronics for national security applications. The technology portfolio includes process development and high-rigor p roduction for ceramic packaging and plastic ball grid array packaging for Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICS) as well as Read-Out Integrated Circuits (RIOC). The organization is part of the Post Fab Technologies Group within Sandia's Microsystems Engineering, Science, and Applications Center (MESA) and partners closely with the Integrated Circuit design, fabrication, and Advanced Packaging/Integration department to establish capabilities that meet the unique requirements of our national security customers.
