The MRI Department is seeking a MRI Technologist to join their team of devoted caregivers; where you will work together to support the Cleveland Clinic’s vision by putting patients’ first and providing world class care. Within this role, you’ll perform MRI exams on patients of all ages. Your primary duties will include but are not limited to:

- Preparing and validating the patient screening safety form.
- Educating patients regarding MRI procedures while ensuring patients’ comfort and safety during and after the exam.
- Maintaining equipment and reporting any current or possible malfunctions with equipment immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, supervises and coordinates work activities of assigned personnel.
  • Schedules work assignments and prepares master schedule.
  • May perform payroll time sheet for employees.
  • Trains, counsels, disciplines, and evaluates performance of employees.
  • Assists with interviewing applicants and recommends selection.
  • Maintains procedure manual and communicates changes to staff.
  • Assists with all policies and procedures required by local, state, or federal law.
  • Assists with compliance or credentialing bodies (ACR, MQSA, Medicare, Medicaid, FDA, etc.).
  • Assists with instrument calibration and records to ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements.
  • Ensures and maintains quality control in regards to patient care and equipment usage.
  • Ensures quality assurance tests are performed daily/weekly and all policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Provides technical direction with complex cases and problem solving.
  • Schedules routine preventative maintenance on equipment to meet safety and regulatory standards. Instructs other area personnel in Radiation Protection, as needed, and ensures their safety.
  • Prepares and checks patients prior to MRI procedure.
  • Acquires patient questionnaire, chart, data/requisition and reviews all to determine contraindication of having MRI examination.
  • Verifies and validates patient screening safety form.
  • Performs MRI procedures required per protocol and performs daily QA.
  • Performs VNA punctures as necessary and maintains competencies.
  • Educates patients regarding MRI procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensures patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.
  • May assist with scheduling of patients as needed.
  • Administers proper contrast related to patient having MRI exam.
  • Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting and printing images via PACS.
  • When applicable, knowledgeable in after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
  • Immediately reports any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
  • Observes potential equipment dysfunctions and reports problems to appropriate individuals calling for service as required.
  • Maintains available equipment up-time at the highest level for patient accessibility.
  • Knowledgeable in billing via RIS.
  • Provides instruction/mentoring to new hires and Radiology Students.
  • Continually strives to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
  • May be required to rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations. Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Must have one of the following: Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, graduate of an accredited school in Sonography or Radiation Therapy, or possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or certification from CAHEA approved Nuclear Medicine Technology training program.

Languages:

Certifications:

  • American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) registered.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
  • State of Florida Licensure.
  • American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)

Complexity of Work:

  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes.
  • Ability to communicate well with Radiologists and physicians to coordinate proper imaging of patients.
  • Strong communication skills are essential to provide excellent care to patients and families.
  • Ability to function well with minimal or no direct supervision.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum two years of recent modality experience.
  • Ability to direct, evaluate and supervise others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
